Welcome

30.09.04

Gaaaaaaack! Sorry for the downtime folks. Due to my current financial situation I can't afford hosting for any of my sites. Fortunately the good folk at MaayaSakamoto.net generously offered to host last-exile.net until I can afford hosting again. (My personal site and vandread-nirvana.net are still down for the moment.) While in the passt hotlinking was allowed to certain sites (AnimeonDVD.com, the Last exile LJ community...) that will remain disabled until further notice. For those of you still looking to link to images of the DVD covers, I've set up a PhotoBucket account here for you to use. Please don't abuse it. If PhotoBucket takes it offline, I will not replace it. As for updates, the Merchandise Guide has been updated with the 7th and final R1 cover, along with the 5th and 6th R4 covers.

03.08.04

As per usual there have been stealth updates going on....some updating in the merchandise section, though I need to do more, and I updated the wallpaper directory a few days ago. Just now the links page and the gallery directory have been updated, but the main update comes in the form that I finally buckled down and made sure all the html on this website validates acccording to W3C xhtml transitional standards. (Except for the fraeset which I need to do some reviewing on. Or I may not bother as the new design I'm working on won't use frames.) I may have lost some links I had intended to add to various places as about a week and a half ago my bookmarks folder up and disappeared on me for absolutely no bloody reason. :P Oh and for those wondering, yes, there IS a pack-in item in the Region 1 vol. 5. The second paper vanship from the R2 release, good luck finding it.

06.07.04

Yeah so, not much in the way of updates lately, all 13 covers for the R2 DVDs are now posted, so go take a look at those if you haven't yet.

A few interesting tidbits of news came out of GONZO's panel at AnimeExpo this past weekend. (News courtesy of AnimeonDVD.com) Firstly, the upcoming movie "Brave Story" that is being co-funded by Buena Vista International, is being worked on by both Koichi Chigira and Range Murata. (Last Exile's director and character designer respectively.) Of more relevance to this site, hoever, was that when questioned on the possiblity of more steam punk anime from GONZO, it was said that a sequel to Last Exile is a possibility. Please note that while positive, this does NOT indicate that they are currently making or planning to make a sequel. So please don't run around telling people that. Too much misinformation gets passed around as fact by over enthusiastic fans.

07.05.04

So I've been highly lazy about updating this front page. There have been a few stealth updates to the site. Mainly in the Merchandise section (new cover art, new volume solicitation, new pages for the Italian release, etc.), but the link page has also been updated (someone save me from the bloody fanlistings PLEASE). I've got some other actual *content* coming (Perish the thought!), but it's not ready yet. And we have a few news tidbits...

Some of you may have heard about the purchase of TechTV by Comcast with the intent to merge it with their G4 channel. How this will affect future airings of Last Exile is currently up in the air, though Anime Unleased has been cited as some of the programming that will be kept. It's worth noting that Comcast gave 60-days notice to pretty much all of TechTV's staff yesterday.

I have news regarding the italian release of Last Exile. This is also known as how to make an "English-Language Fangirl Cry". Italy is geting a VHS release and two different DVD releases. The VHS release will be 13 volumes. The first of the two DVD releases is the standard release and is 7 single-disc volumes. The second DVD release is the Collector's Edition and is 7 two disc volumes. (DVD-9s!) The Collector's edition will have two episodes on each disc (with the exception of vol. 7 which will instead include a special extras disc), includes booklets featuring the insert diagrams and information from the R2s (in Italian of course), and will come in a two-case box featuring the R2 Range Murata cover art. This release will also feature THREE different Italian audio tracks: 2.0; DTS; and Dolby Digital EX (as well as 2.0 Japanese).

I had a migraine earlier, so I go collapse now. Ta.

15.03.04

I hope everyone who was watching Last Exile on Tech TV enjoyed it! For those of you who missed the run, or even just an episode or two, Tech TV will be re-running those episodes, one epiosde at a time, during Anime Unleahed's normal timeslot at 1 AM EST starting on Thursday March 25th.

As K-san from Gravitation would say...Big News!
EyeonAnime.co.uk is reporting that it was announced at Minamicon that ADV UK has licensed Last Exile for release in the UK. I also discovered that the series has been licensed by Shin Vision for release in Italy and will also be airing on MTV in Italy at some unknown date.

Lastly, there is an update in the merchandise section which actually went up on Friday. More cover art: small version of R2 vol. 9, large version of R1 vol. 3, large & small versions of R1 vol. 4 (which not even the retailers had up at the time I posted it. *smirk*) Also some images of the trading cards courtsey of one of the members of the AoD Forums, as well as the new Last Exile wallscroll being released soon by Great Eastern. (Which, I will remind people is the only LEGAL wallscroll availible. ^^;) More soon.

29.01.04

I can only assume that everyone out there just likes making more work for me... Earlier today, TechTV finally posted a news release on their website. Apparently they only have the airing rights to the first 12 episodes so far, but they intend to aquire the rest for broadcast next year. The initial airing schedule has it running two episodes a night at 10 PM EST from March 8-13, and then a 4 PM - 10:30 PM marathon of all 12 epiodes + a preview for ep. 13 on Sunday the 14th. This is it guys, anime in primetime.

28.01.04

Despite continued rumours, it appears that Tech TV does NOT currently have broadcast rights to Last Exile. According to a post in their Anime Unleashed forums, they are currently looking into it, but no deal has been signed yet.

In other news, reports have come in that there is a previously unannounced limited pack-in item in the 2nd volume of the Region 1 DVD release. It looks to be the same limited postcards that were included in volume 3 of the R2 DVDs.

21.01.04

News Flash! Anime Nation is reporting that TechTV will be broadcasting Last Exile in the US at 1 AM on Weeknights starting the first week of March.

15.01.04

As usual, there has been an update to the merchandise guide. The books section has been updated to include SPHERES 2, the music section now contains info on the US release of the 2nd OST (April 13th), and info on the 2nd volume of the Austrailian (Region 4) DVD release has been added. Also, it has been discovered that the reason why the Austrailian vol. 1 + box release is so expensive. It apparently contains the Alvis figure as well. (But not the mousepad.)

ALSO updated are the links page, the Japanese fan art directory, and the wallpaper directory. The wallpaper directory now also contains two wallpapers submitted by OrangeHeart. Arigatou!

I'd do more updating but I got in a large box full of my manga preorders from Right Stuf's Tokyopop sale a few months back, and I'm sure you can all guess what that means. ^-^

01.01.04

First post of the new year! Sighted in the new January issue of Diamond Comics' Previews was the second Last Exile OST. Previews sometimes has wrong information, but they list the release date as April '04.

Another bit of release news, SPHERES - LASTEXILE 2nd Character Filegraphy was released by Range Murata's circle, Pasta's Estab, at Comiket 65 which took place in Japan earlier this week.

20.12.03

Big update in the Merchanidse Guide. Cover art for volume 6 of the region 2 DVDs, listings and art for volume 1 and box of the region 4 DVDs (I feel sorry for box sluts in Austrailia.), info on the third region 1 DVD (it should be noted that the art for that one is a mock-up based on the artwork from the latest Previews Video vault.), info on the US release of the first soundtrack, a new "Books" section, and updates to the poster and miscellaneous sections have all been added. Someone out there better damn well be appreciating this.

20.11.03

What I didn't mention on Monday...

I got my lovely box!!!

Yes, there are five different images there. Oh, and small updates were also made to the merch guide, so this isn't an entirely frivilous update. ^-^

12.11.03

Another small update. Animate posted some pictures of the figure that will come with the second Region 2 box (vol. 8) as well as the two paper vanship model that will be first pressing items for volume 7 and volume 8.

11.11.03

One small bit of news, Geneon's Official English webiste now has content! It can be found at LastExileDVD.com.

Major update today... Both DVD pages have been updated. The cover art for the 2nd volume of the Region 1 release is up. (Though the pic looks horribly over exposed, I was bored so I tinked around and came up with what it ought to look like assuming they do the colors properly.) The cover art for volume 5 of the Region 2 releases is also up as well as info on vols 7&8. Also updated was the page on miscellaneous merchanidse which has a new item (really, really cool!) and links to where you can obtain the shitajiki and the postcard set. The Wallpaper Directory has been updated and there is a new Lyrics section among the Extras. Currently the only songs listed there are those of the insert songs sung in English.

31.10.03

Audiophiles rejoyce! Word came out at the Las Vegas Comic-Con today that Geneon has acquired the first OST (and probably the second as well) and are planning for a release date of 17.02.04. (Also announced were the Chobits Character Song Collection and the first Fruits Basket OST.)

26.10.03

I'm too lazy too do up all the updates I need to do tonight, so this is a purely news post...

1. Some folks may have noticed the big 2 page ad in the most recent issue (Nov.) of Newtype USA. For those of you who haven't, there is a picture of the Region 1 box! This has been lovingly *cough* photographed by yours truly and can be seen here. The side of the box not shown will have the pic from the Region 2 Vol. 1 DVD. (That info courtsey of Stephen Tang from Geneon via the AnimeonDVD.com forums.)

2. Listings are up on CD Japan for the Region 2 volumes through #8. Volume 8 has a version that comes with the second box (no pictures yet) and also a version with the box, a mousepad featuring Vol. 8's artwork and a "Lavie and Chibi Lavie" figurine. No, I don't know what that will look like either.

3. For our last bit of news for the night, a little bird in an IRC chat room dropped the info that the English language release has been sublicensed by several companies for release in Scandanavia. More info if and when I can get confirmation.

14.10.03

In a little bit of rather nifty news, I discovered in some random browsing that Last Exile is listed among the projects on NightJar's webpage. For those not familiar with NightJar, they are the ones responsible for the superb DVD menus for Vandread, Trigun, and Sol Bianca: The Legacy among other series.

09.10.03

Anime News Service has posted a picture of Geneon's Press Kit for the Region 1 release. It is soooooo sweet. (Okay, the sunglasses are a bit out of place, but still!) Now how can I get my hands on one of those?

The merchandise guide has been updated with a number of things, the R2 vol. 4 cover is up, also a bunch of good have been added to the Miscellaenous section

26.09.03

In a press release sent out today, Pioneer Entertainment announced a change of name to Geneon Entertainment on 01/10/03 as a result of their recent acquisition from Pioneer by Denstu. This means that the Region 1 DVD release will most probably be under the name Genon and not Pioneer.

14.09.03

Madman announced yesterday at Supanova (an Austrailian convention) that they have secured the Region 4 distribution rights.

03.09.03

Pioneer has apparently registered LastExileDVD.com for their official English site. Not much up there yet, just the series logo. Yesterday when I found the domain there wasn't even that. Just a general placeholder page generated by their server. :)

Lots of a little site updates. Episode titles are up through ep. 23, a few name corrections for the characters, an update to the merchandise guide, more links added. There is now at least a little content for each of the entries currently in the mechanics section.

An entirely new section has been added to the extras section: lots of lovely links to Japanese fan art sites. (DO NOT USE ANYTHING OFF THOSE SITES WITHOUT PERMISSION.) More updates soonish, but not this week. I still have half the second season of Babylon 5 to get through and the DVDs were due back at the library last week.

30.07.03

News update! According to AnimeonDVD.com, Pioneer has set a Nov. 18th release date for the first Region 1 volume. It looks like they will be mimicing the region 2 release. There will be three release versions: Vol. 1 + Series box + Alvis figure + Mouse pad; Vol. 1 + Series box; and a stand-alone Vol. 1. I know which one I'm getting! ;)

In the realm of site updates there are large pics up now for the covers of the first two region 2 DVDs and information has been put up for the region 1 vol. 1 release and for vols. 3 and 4 of the region 2 release.

20.07.03

Wahho! Storm's End is finally done! *whew* Not that anyone really knew about it to begin with... Anyways, herein one can find information on that most gorgeous of GONZO's animes, Last Exile.

Not everything is up yet, so content will be added regularly as I have time to work on it. Upcoming items of interest include descritpions and more entries in the character and mechanics sections, large images of the DVD covers (I do believe I'm the first fansite to have the cover of vol. 2 up. ^-^ The official site doesn't even have it yet!) and a quite nifty directory of Japanese fan art sites. Enjoy! ^-^
